Living Consciously June 30, 2009

Dear friends,

Everything in nature serves a purpose. The majority of sentient beings are unaware of just how useful they are, how necessary to the whole is their existence. Their part in the balance of nature is unknown to them, yet they go about their daily purpose with such single mindedness! Observe animals in their natural habitat and you will see a lesson in commitment, only they do not know what commitment is. Their purpose is attached to their survival so quitting their job is not a possibility.

Humans seem to have forgotten their place in the greater good. We suffer from a collective low self esteem, calling ourselves sinners and random acts of nature. It is no wonder we are so easily drawn into battles with one another, killing each other off with seeming impunity. We do not believe we are of much value as a species, in fact some say we are a cancer on the planet, destroying our habitat.

Spirituality tells us that our purpose is to give our Source an outlet to be made visible. In plain talk, we are here to reveal love in all its forms, joy in every relationship, vitality in our physical form, creative expression as art and music and celebration and to live in an abundantly supplied garden which is ours to cultivate.

Our usefulness is individualized. How you re-present potential is uniquely yours to do. How I express Spirit is mine. Yet when each of us is purposefully intent on bringing out our spiritual nature, we are serving the greater good for our species, the planet and all life upon it. A loving, joyful, creative, expressive, vital and aware person does not wage war. They do not violate others. They do not decimate their environment. They live naturally from their true nature. This is the evolution of awareness that is on the rise in our world. Each of us serves that purpose.

Peace and Blessings,

Dear friends,

The quest for freedom originates in our mind because it is a reality in our nature. We are meant to live as self expressing creative beings who are able to build community and cooperation by recognizing that innate trait in all others. Knowing that everyone longs to be seen and known for who they really are, we would respect the right to exercise freedom of choice within the context of our shared creation, the current model for civilization. Laws are really meant to make it possible for freedom to function.

When I first travelled to India I was shocked at the chaotic traffic patterns. Drivers lay on their horns and maneuver through oncoming cars as if they were the only one on the road. I even saw billboards asking people to drive in the proper lane and to turn on their headlights at night! Consequently, what looks like freedom is causing nothing but blocked roads, high level noise pollution, frustration and time delays. There is less freedom of movement than there might be if people obeyed the traffic laws.

The laws of co creation are also meant to bring a greater freedom to our personal expression and they too require a certain discipline from us. Our part is to provide a mental equivalent of the thing we wish to express. We are required to shift our self identity from wanting something to being it. It will do us no good to complain loudly as if we were in a traffic jam in Asia, nor to mildly accept our lot in life and handle whatever is in front of us.

Emerson said nature obeys us as we first obey her. Think in terms of you being the very experience you desire. Free your mind to imagine it as already so. Command your higher nature to guide your thoughts and direct the flow of your attention so that you travel smoothly into the full experience of your greater freedom of expression.

Peace and Blessings,

Rev Carol Carnes
